Preparations for the 21st February Movement to celebrate President Mugabe’s 91st birthday, have moved a gear up with organisers — Zanu-PF Youth League — yesterday revealing that donations were trickling in.

The zanu-PF Youth League also said the theme for this year’s event would be announced tomorrow.

The league’s finance secretary, Cde Tongai Kasukuwere, told The Herald that preparations for the commemorations slated for next month in Victoria Falls, had started on a good note.

“We started the fundraising earlier than past years and money has already started coming into our account,” he said.

“Pledges for cakes and cattle among others have been made. Our traditional sponsors are also promising to support us.”

Cde Kasukuwere said various programmes had been lined up to coordinate various stakeholders involved in the preparations.

“We are going to have a meeting on Wednesday (today) to finalise the budget and on Thursday (tomorrow) we will be coming up with this year’s theme.

“On Sunday we will tour the proposed venue and facilities with all the stakeholders including authorities from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Department of Parks and Wildlife Management and political leaders,” said Cde Kasukuwere.

The event is organised by the party’s youths annually.

Last year’s celebrations were held in Marondera.

Donations are to be deposited into the CBZ bank account number 01122084930021, Kwame Nkrumah Branch.

The Youth League said donations could also be directed to the Youth League office on the 9th floor at the party’s national headquarters in Harare.
