Chigorimbo stars in a new film

Veteran actor and filmmaker Stephen Chigorimbo features in a new short film titled “Odium” that premiered recently in the capital during the “In Short” project that promotes several short films. The film, which was written and directed by Charles Mugaviri (Junior), has other characters in that include Denise Edwards, Wilheim Oliver and Yeukai Danana.

Chigorimbo has been in the film industry for a long time. He was the first assistant director in “Cry Freedom”, a movie that starred Denzel Washington.

He was also part of the cast in “King Solomon’s Mines”, a film featured popular actress Sharon Stone but it was his role in the soap Studio 263 as John Huni that made him a popular figure.

Other short films that premièred together with “Odium” are “The Airtime Trip” and “The Parcel”.
“The Airtime Trip” is a romantic comedy about a boy who goes out to look for airtime and during the trip he looks for a girl to date. First two attempts fails but he finally wins the heart of a girl who comes to buy airtime at the same place.

The primiere was graced by Jackie Mgido, a makeup artist based in Hollywood who has worked with Snoop Dogg, Denzel Washington and Orlando Jones.Mgido applauded the quality of film productions produced by Invision Studios and has engaged them on her commercial advert on cosmetics. “In Short” is a film project that started last year and it is a platform for talented Zimbabwean first time filmmakers to shoot and showcase their short films in one month.

The aim of the project is to enhance creativity with available resources to produce high quality films. The project was founded by Invision Studios, a group of creative individuals with the vision of making it a short film festival.
