Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday hailed the Communist Party of China for its support of Zimbabwe ahead of last year’s harmonised elections.
Cde Khaya Moyo was speaking at a dinner he hosted for CPC officials who are in Harare for a two-day visit aimed at appreciating developmental projects and cementing relations between the two political parties.

The CPC delegation was led by a member of the party’s Political Bureau, Cde Guo Jin Long.

Cde Khaya Moyo said CPC contributed to Zanu-PF’s thunderous victory in last year’s elections.

“I wish to commend our colleagues from the CPC for the assistance rendered to Zanu-PF in its preparations for the 2013 harmonised elections,” he said.

“The CPC should draw satisfaction from the fact that Zanu-PF went on to register an emphatic victory during those elections. The huge margins by which the party won the elections show that the party has enjoyed remarkable growth in the past five years, thanks to the unequivocal and unconditional support rendered by our revered friends over the years.”

Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF’s leadership benefited from the training conducted by CPC and that the party still had a lot to learn from China.

“Our cadres, who include our provincial chairpersons and commissars received very useful training in China not long ago,” he said.  “This has brought tremendous results in the drive to develop and capacitate our cadreship.

“This training is being cascaded to the generality of the party membership in order to ensure that the party is always ideologically equipped and ready to fend-off undesirable infiltrators whose objectives could be to force the now failed regime change agenda.”

Cde Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF was now preparing for the 2018 election.

“We are now working extra hard to consolidate on this new growth witnessed in the party,” he said.

“Plans are already underway to prepare the party for the next elections to be held in 2018 and we are putting in place new systems to improve our membership database.”
Cde Guo said China was willing to continue working with Zimbabwe in achieving peace, development and prosperity.

He said Zanu-PF and the CPC had a long history and their friendship was based on respect and support on each other over the years.

The CPC delegation will meet Zanu-PF representatives today for a party-to-party discussion before flying to Victoria Falls.
